Signs and Wonders, a Religious Futures Weblog [sources][trends][about][discuss][archive][contact]

Welcome! At Signs and Wonders we sift through the World Wide Web looking for evidence of emerging religious futures.
Our mission is to provide our readers -- religious futurists, ministers, and just plain spiritual people -- with a guided tour of the web,
stopping wherever we see the future of faith unfolding before our eyes.
We update this site every three days or so, so come back again and join us on our next trip. If you want to comment on anything you read here or discuss religious futures in general, come over to our forum.

[social]-- Catholic Church reaches out to women who've had Abortions
by Cody Clark at 4:55 PM (EST)

"Many people think that abortion is the unforgivable sin, and that they have severed their tie with the church forever. In fact it is the complete opposite... We want people to understand that there is nothing that separates us from the love of God." A new campaign by the National Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Rachael Project, a Catholic post-abortion counseling service, is attempting to reconcile mothers who've had abortions and bring them back into the church.

editor -- This is another campaign aligned with one of the Pope's larger themes for the Jubilee year -- reconciliation. Efforts for inclusiveness and forgiveness, despite the critics who say it's too little and too late, are a trend in the Catholic Church and represent a counter trend to the larger trend of religous intolerance. I would hope that the Church perseveres despite critics and that other churches join this countertrend.
