I am Dr. Robert Scott, a World Future Society member since 1994. At that time I was Chairman of the Reynolds Research Institute, and 21st Century Study group for the International Church of the Nazarene. I had numerous associations with Dr. Richard Kirby. I benefited from his astute thinking and insights. I appreciated his writings that came to me. He has left a sterling legacy for those of us engaged in understanding and helping shape a better future.

Subject: Tribute To Richard Kirby
I knew Richard so very well for a considerable time and his humour, interests and intellect always brought something special and interesting, not only into my life, but also to those privileged to know him.
The world does lose some people who are almost impossible to replace in their such unique ways and Richard was just one of those challenging souls; his mind set was, I am sure, to embrace and further mankind's dwelling on this earth; to promote Futures that would benefit all; his chosen disciplines covering many, many fields.
There are, due to his diligence, some very good people now, some who have been continually active, some 'sleepers' ready to wake, but all touched by his presence in their lives.
Most certainly we now should pay special attention to his achievements and vigorously build on the foundations he laid.
It would have been good to see Richard again 'down here' but I am sure we will meet again through our Lord's Grace.
God did Bless Richard and may He Bless all those he leaves behind.

Richard respected that arts was my personal path to God. And he helped me understand and think more about what he called Spiritual Asthetics, encouraging me to write on this topic.
I have rarely met a person with as fertile a mind as Richard Kirby. Thank God for his life.

A soft-spoken, gentle, and cordial humanist, Richard Kirby was the sort you remembered from the mass of people you might mix with over a life time. he as not afraid to dream of joint efforts from which more timid others blanched, as he seemed to trust to Divine Providence to help him and colleagues accomplish that which odds makers bet against, that which smaller souls thought far too ambitious. Open to the views of others, but also careful to keep constant regarding timeless matters and eternal verities, Richard helped keep up faith and hope in all who knew him. Taken from us all too soon, he leaves behind a Call to steadily move forward the many campaigns he added, and in place of solemn mourning, press passionately on!

As a Mensan I had the chance to meet Richard many years ago. I was so much impressed by his wonderful personality and admirable spirit. Richard, I will keep you always in my mind. Your ideas and your spirit showed me new ways in life. I never will forget you!

I am deeply concerned about you leaving us, Richard! You influenced my thinking to more spirituality and more sensibility. Your great ideas f. i. about an Olympiade of the minds or the role of Mensa are very valuable and should be continued.
You were in many case a "Vorbild" to me! Peace stay with you!

On 10/12/09, Dr. Jörg-Michael Thurm wrote: I had the great fortune to be a friend of Dr. Richard Kirby for 30 years. I met him first in London in 1979, when he was International Director of Administration of Mensa International. He was a true and reliable friend over a long period of time. I admired the width of his interests. Mostly he impressed me with the strength of his Christian faith expressed in numerous sermons. I will always remember his sermon on "Not Quench The Spirit" from apostle Paul. Now his spirit made the journey back to where he came from.
God bless his ardent servant.
